STORAGE OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS
The storage of pharmaceuticals (medicines storage), whether finished dosages or raw materials (APIs – Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), are subject to very strict regulations. These regulations are also known as Good Distribution Practices. The rules are determined by the Ministry of Health, Sport and Welfare on the basis of EU guidelines. The Ministry also monitors correct and strict compliance with the GDP guidelines in the Netherlands with the help of the IGZ (Health Care Inspectorate) department.
Storage of medicines is only permitted if you have been approved and certified to do so. To do this, you apply for a GDP Wholesale License, which you will only receive if, after an IGZ audit, it appears that you meet all the conditions. If you have been working with the GDP Wholesale License for some time, IGZ will visit you again and unannounced for an audit. After a good result you will be eligible for the GDP certificate.
If you do not have GDP storage, you can also outsource the storage to a company that has the correct permits. Here, the temperature is controlled between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and special cold stores guarantee the quality of pharmaceutical goods and APIs that must be stored under lower, controlled temperatures. Trained, certified employees keep you informed of the status of your shipment and, if desired, arrange the GDP distribution of your medicines to hospitals, pharmacies and other wholesale companies in the Benelux and the rest of Europe.
In October 2014, IGZ conducted its thorough audit of CyberFreight. Because we met all the qualifications of the guidelines, we were awarded the GDP Certificate shortly afterwards. Of course we are very proud of that.
